Remediation partners

Partners are firms that remediate websites for accessibility and file records of that work in the registry. Filing is free. Every record a partner files is public and carries the partner's name.

Partner criteria

To file records, a firm must meet and continue to meet all of the following.

  1. Manual remediation. Fixes are made in the website's code, templates, or content by qualified staff. Automated overlays and scripts that alter a page at load time do not qualify as remediation.
  2. Audit before filing. A record is filed only after the partner has audited the website against a published standard and the owner has engaged the partner to remediate.
  3. Retest before verification. A record is marked verified only after the website passes a retest against the same standard, performed after the remediation work.
  4. Public, permanent history. The partner accepts that every record and every status change it files is public, dated, and retained, including lapses and withdrawals.
  5. Accuracy and response. The partner is responsible for the accuracy of what it files and must respond to a registry inquiry about one of its records within ten business days.
  6. No misuse of the badge. The partner does not describe the registry as a certifying or approving body, and instructs its clients on the rules for the badge.

A partner that fails to meet the criteria may be suspended, and its records marked accordingly.
